Durable plastic deep foundation in yellow or black — drops straight into grooved Langstroth deep frames. No wiring or eyelets needed. Choose unwaxed, or pre-waxed with real beeswax to save time.
Why plastic foundation
- Tough and long-lasting — won't tear when you scrape with a hive tool
- Reusable season after season, so more cost-effective than wax
- Wax moth and mice can't destroy it
- Stores at any temperature
- No blow-out when extracting honey
- No wire or eyelets needed — it fits snugly into grooved top and bottom bars
Yellow or black?
Both are the same tough food-grade foundation — the choice comes down to visibility. Many beekeepers prefer black because eggs and young larvae stand out against it, making inspections and queen checks easier. Yellow is the classic all-rounder. Pick whichever suits how you like to read your frames.
Unwaxed or pre-waxed?
Pre-waxed foundation is coated with real beeswax, so bees draw comb on it faster and you skip the prep step. Choose unwaxed if you'd rather render and apply your own beeswax to keep a closed wax loop in your hive. For best results, give unwaxed sheets a thin coat of melted beeswax before they go in the hive.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to wire these?
No — plastic foundation fits snugly into grooved bars, so no wire or eyelets are needed.
Yellow or black — which should I choose?
Black makes eggs and young larvae easier to spot during inspections; yellow is the classic all-rounder. Both are the same durable food-grade foundation.
Should I choose waxed or unwaxed?
Pre-waxed is ready to use and bees draw it faster. Choose unwaxed if you want to apply your own beeswax.
Do I need to wax the unwaxed sheets?
For best results, yes — a thin coat of melted beeswax helps the bees start drawing comb.
Does it fit 8- and 10-frame deep boxes?
Yes — it suits any standard deep Langstroth frame with grooved bars.
Are frames included?
No — this listing is foundation only.
