A ventilated bee suit built for long, hot hive inspections
Triple-layer mesh construction lets a constant breeze through while the woven cotton panels resist abrasion and wear. The 3-Layer Ventilated Beekeeping Suit is built for beekeepers who hate sweating through summer inspections — hobbyists pulling honey supers in 95°F heat, sideliners working multiple yards a day, or commercial operators on long pollination runs.
Why the 3-layer mesh matters
Most bee suits are a single layer of cotton or poly — they trap heat, and stings can sometimes get through. A triple-mesh suit creates an air gap between the outer mesh and your skin that's difficult for a stinger to bridge. That same air gap is also why you stay cool — air moves through it like a window screen.
Features
- Triple-layer mesh body for strong sting resistance and constant airflow
- Choice of veil: fencing (rectangular) or round/dome — both detachable for easy washing and storage
- Cotton non-mesh panels for durability and natural breathability
- White outer color — the shade bees respond to least
- Reinforced knees for kneeling at hive entrances or working low boxes
- Elastic ankle cuffs with foot loops to keep pant legs sealed inside boots
- Elastic wrist cuffs for a snug closure under gloves
- Heavy-duty front zipper with veil zipper running around the hood
- Multiple pockets for hive tools, frame grips, and queen marker
- Sizes S through 6XL — see size chart below
Sizing
Sizing is unisex and based on chest, waist and height in US inches. If you're between sizes, size up — the mesh runs cool, so a roomier fit is comfortable in heat and leaves room for layers in cooler weather.

Frequently asked questions
Will bees sting through this suit? The triple-layer mesh creates an air gap that's difficult for a stinger to reach across, so stings through the suit are rare with proper fit. As with any bee suit, ensure the zipper is fully closed, cuffs are snug, and the veil is properly seated before working a hive.
Is the veil detachable? Yes. Both the fencing and round veil options unzip from the suit so you can wash the body separately or swap veil styles.
Fencing veil or round veil — which should I pick? The fencing (rectangular) veil sits flat against the head and is popular with beekeepers who wear glasses or want maximum forward visibility. The round/dome veil keeps the mesh further from your face, which some beekeepers prefer for ventilation and to avoid mesh contact with the nose during long inspections. Both offer the same level of protection.
What is the suit made of? The body is triple-layer polyester mesh for ventilation. The non-mesh panels — collar, knees and trim — are cotton for durability and breathability. Color is white throughout.
Can I wear it over normal clothes? Yes. The mesh runs cool, so light clothes underneath are fine in summer. In cooler weather, layer up — and consider sizing up if you're between sizes to leave room.
Is it suitable for Africanized bees? The 3-layer mesh provides strong protection against most colonies. For highly defensive Africanized bees we recommend pairing this suit with thick leather gloves and a tucked-in base layer.
How does it compare to a cotton bee suit? Cotton suits are warmer and slightly more abrasion-resistant. Mesh suits are cooler and lighter, with comparable sting protection thanks to the air gap. Most beekeepers in warm climates switch to mesh once they try it.
